come stay with usThe Old Bell Tavern surrounds visitors with a rich history that began in 1773: in its former life, the tavern was a popular stopping place along the stage coach route and also provided the location for the Portland Court’s jury room from 1792 to 1805. Since then, it has been thoughtfully restored to combine centuries-old post-and-beam architecture (which has remained much the same since its original construction) with modern comforts and amenities.

With top-of-the-line appliances and unlimited space and seating, this kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful — we mean it when we say no detail was spared!

A king-sized master suite, two queen-sized bedrooms, and a pull-out sofa bed in the living room provide comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to 8 guests.

With accessibility in mind, we converted the 1st floor 1/2 bath into a full bath to ensure an even more comfortable stay for you and your guests.

The only thing better than time away is returning home with a suitcase full of clean clothes. Guests are welcome to use our washer and dryer.

Cancellations & House Rules
Cancellation Policy
• Cancellations made 30 days or more before arrival receive a full refund of the deposit.
• Cancellations made 14–29 days before arrival receive a 50% refund of the deposit.
• Cancellations made within 14 days of arrival forfeit the deposit in full.
• No-shows or early departures are non-refundable.
Guest Responsibility
• The primary guest must be 25 years or older and present at check-in.
• A government-issued photo ID matching the reservation name is required.
• Only registered guests are permitted on the property unless approved in advance.
• Events, parties, or loud gatherings must be pre-approved by the host.
Property Care
• Please treat the home with care and respect. Any damage or missing items will be deducted from the security deposit.
• No smoking or vaping indoors.
• Please observe quiet hours from 10:00 pm – 8:00 am.
• Pets are welcome by prior approval only and must not be left unattended indoors.

Rates & Policies
Nightly Rates
• Low Season (Nov – Apr): $500 per night Sunday–Thursday, $700 per night Friday & Saturday
• Peak Season (Jun – Sep & Holidays): $500 per night Sunday–Thursday, $750 per night Friday & Saturday
• All stays require a 2-night minimum.
Additional Fees
• Cleaning Fee: $200 per stay
• Maine Lodging Tax: 9%
• Refundable Security Deposit: $250 (held until checkout)
Check-In & Check-Out
• Check-in: 4:00 pm | Check-out: 11:00 am
• Maximum Guests: 6
• Up to 2 additional guests may be accommodated at $25 per person per night
• Pets by approval ($125 non-refundable per stay)
